Description

Caroline Fire-Rescue is offering a Winter/Spring session Emergency Medical Technician - Basic initial certification course. Students will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully pass the The Virginia Office of EMS practical and National Registry of EMT's written certification tests in order to gain certification upon completion of this program. The projected test date is May 28, 2015 to be hosted by the ODEMSA Council.

EMT Course Fees

Each training program offered incurs some specific fees. The following items are identified as required for participation in the Caroline Fire Rescue EMT Basic course.

Caroline Fire Rescue Member

All text books and fees shall be covered by the Department. Members shall be responsible for any re-test fees as necessary. To be considered a member you must have been approved for membership by both the County and an individual company prior to the first day of class. Retest Fee if necessary $50-$70 and is the responsibility of the member.

Non-Caroline Member

Registration $250.00

Text Book – Emergency Care 12th Ed $133

AHA Healthcare Provider CPR $18

*Criminal Background and Driving History Check

Virginia EMS Test Fee $50

NREMT Test Fee $70 (OEMS will pay)

Retest Fee if necessary $50-$70.

Non-Affiliated Student

Registration $ 500.00

Caroline Fire Rescue Training Division will pay these fees for Caroline County affiliated students.

*Department Criminal Background and Driving History Checks may be submitted (requested for use) as long as they were completed within 60 days of the start of the program.

Uniforms are also required for participating in Ride Alongs or Clinical Rotations. Uniforms must include an approved department issued shirt or blank navy polo shirt, dark colored pants (not jeans), and no opened toed shoes or sneakers; boots (steel toe recommended). This is in accordance with current Caroline Fire Rescue Ride Along Standard Operating Procedures.

Photo ID Badges will be created for each student to be worn when representing Caroline Fire Rescue EMT Basic training programs in the public. These IDs should be worn during all Ride Alongs and Clinical Rotations.
